Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden visited the Hamlin household yesterday to try to convince the Lamar standout that Clemson was the right choice. "The visit Coach Bowden went well. It was a pretty good visit," said Hamlin in an interview with Thursday evening.

South Carolina Head Coach Lou Holtz also visited the Hamlin household yesterday. When asked how he would compare the in-home visits, Hamlin responded, "Clemson had a lot of information to give. Carolina did pretty well. They didn't have as much as Clemson but they did pretty well."

What type of information did the coaches bring to the visit? "They brought information on graduation rates, majors and depth charts," stated the prize recruit.

Hamlin did point out one specific example of the information that the schools brought to the visit when discussing graduation rates. "Carolina talked about it, but Clemson brought the papers to prove it."

The Shrine Bowl star is getting close to making his final decision. "I'm getting close. It will probably be a week at the most," added Hamlin. "I'd say Clemson still has the slight edge."

Hamlin plans to spend the weekend considering his big decision. "I am going to go down to Duke this weekend and think about everything. I will probably make my decision early next week."

The coaches will certainly be back next week to try to close the deal with the talented defender. "Coach Burns is supposed to be coming back sometime next week," stated Hamlin.
