Marietta native Aaron Kelly spent most of the weekend deciding between Clemson and Wake Forest, and it now appears that the rangy wide receiver is close to a decision.

Today, he announced his intentions to the rest of the world. Or at least, his mother did so in a phone interview earlier this evening.

"It wasn't an easy decision but we are very pleased with it," said Mrs. Kelly in an interview with Monday afternoon. "I'm very excited about Clemson. Aaron is very excited as well."

Aaron committed to head coach Tommy Bowden in a phone call earlier this morning. Bowden was expected to stop by Walton High School to meet with Kelly in person, but the ice storm that hit upstate South Carolina and northeast Georgia limited his travel on Monday.

Mrs. Kelly also added that the Tigers' head coach will be in for an in-home visit later in the week since he couldn't make it down.

Kelly, who is now the 23rd verbal commitment for the 2004 class, is the fourth and final commitment at wide receiver. It expected that he, along with La'Dontae Harris and Mike McIntosh, will enroll at Clemson later this fall. Phillip Morris is expected to enroll at Georgia Military.

Kelly chose the Tigers over Wake Forest and is ranked as one of the top 50 players in the state of Georgia for the 2004 class.
