Robinson Expecting Bowden Tomorrow

Miami native Akeem Robinson says he might have made a decision a little too early in the recruiting process when he chose the Rutgers Scarlet Knights a few weeks ago. Headed into the final stages of the recruiting process, do the Tigers have a chance to gain his commitment? It sure sounds like it if you talk to him.

Miami native Akeem Robinson is only now starting to feel the heat of the college football recruiting process kick in. Just weeks after committing to Rutgers, it appears as though the massive offensive lineman is changing his tune.

"I definitely committed to them too early," said Robinson in an interview with Tuesday evening. "I really don't considered myself committed to them anymore. I'm looking hard at Clemson and Florida right now."

When asked if he was ready to tell Rutgers that he wasn't coming there, he responded, "It looks that way. I'm going to tell them that. That's one of the reasons I'm waiting this final decision out now. I don't want to make a decision to quickly."

Robinson, who visited Clemson for his official visit back in early January says the Tigers want him either as a tight end, or defensive lineman, pending how he develops in the coming years.

"I'm fine either way really," Robinson added.

The interesting thing here is that Akeem wasn't being heavily recruited last fall. However, the tide seemed to turn as several college coaches from around the southeast started seeing some film of him in action during the later stages of the season.

Apparently, Robinson developed so much over the course of the year that he went from the likes of Rutgers and several smaller schools recruiting him, to Clemson and Florida hot on the trail, all within a matter of weeks.

"Yeah, that's how it pretty much happened," said Robinson. "I really started watching my film and noticing all the things I needed to improve on. That made the biggest difference in my play. I was usually the first one in there and the last one to leave. That's the kind of commitment I made this season."

So, who's it going to be? Clemson or Florida?

"I like Clemson a lot right now. I really didn't want to go to Florida for my official visit this weekend, but my parents want me to go and explore all my options. So I'm going to do that, and hopefully I'll have a decision after that."
