Courtney Vincent isn't just working hard preparing for his first year of college and in the classroom, but he's also doing his part to support his family. "I have been working some at nights to help out a little," said Vincent in a recent interview with CUTigers.com. "Right now, I'm trying to help pay some of the bills."

Vincent is pleased that signing day is over but he says the pressure is still out there. "It feels good to have signing day over. I am just happy to be part of the Tigers. All the pressure isn't off though. I still have to work as hard as I can to be the best player I can."

Courtney is aware that Clemson did not get several of the linebackers they were after in the 2004 class, and he is ready to get his opportunity to help the Tigers. "I don't know too much right now. All I know is that it will probably give me an opportunity to compete. I just need to take advantage of it."

And of course, the question on everyone's mind has to do with qualifying. Is Vincent is very close to qualifying for admission to Clemson? According to him, it's only a matter of 10 points.

"I am going to make it in," said the Shrine Bowl standout. "I am just 10 points off on my test score. I took the test in January but my results haven't come back yet. I am sure I probably made it."

"I'm going to be working out in the weight room. I will also be working on my speed and quickness drills. I'm ready to get in that sun. I want to get to about 230 before August. Right now I'm at 220."

Vincent also added that he's ready to get things underway. "I'm looking forward to getting involved with the workouts with the team. I want to make everybody proud. I am looking forward to staying focused and being a student athlete."

We will continue to keep you updated on this future Tiger linebacker, right up through the beginning of practice this August.
