Hammonds, a two-sport star who is averaging 23 points, 8 boards and 5.5 assists per game, was contemplating taking an official visit to Stanford, but he decided that it was too far.
"I think it's Clemson, but I'll make my decision by the end of the week," Hammonds said.
"I went there for an official visit on Jan. 25, when they played Maryland," he added. "I really enjoyed the trip. The whole staff was nice and it seems like they're a program headed in the right direction."
According to a source close to the situation, Hammonds has already notified the Clemson staff of the upcoming decision. In addition to Stanford, Hammonds also considered Mercer - where his brother is a freshman on the basketball team.
Hammonds, a 4.0 student, considered signing a football scholarship with Wake Forest. Now he'll have to wait at least two years before he can play football in college.
