Camden High School has been home to some of the top prospects in the state over the course of the last 10 years, and in 2004, things are no different.

Thomas Austin, a powerful offensive lineman should headline another stellar class for head coach Jimmy Neal in 2004.

Austin, 6-4, 270-pound prospect, started his junior season at offensive guard but moved over to tackle later in the year. "I think I'll play tackle next year," stated Austin in a recent interview with

Austin, who named as a Class 3-A All-Area Player by The State Newspaper, is already receiving steady interest from several top programs around the south. "Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina, Auburn, Tennessee and Duke have all showed interest so far," stated Austin.

When asked whom he grew up rooting for, Austin responded, "I pulled for Clemson. My sister almost went there."

The Camden standout has all the physical tools to compete at the collegiate level, but that may not be his biggest strength. "I am even balanced between pass and run blocking. I also have a good football mind."

So what will the Camden star be looking for in a college? "I will be looking for a good coaching staff," said Austin. "Not just a staff that is friendly but also one that works hard. I will also be looking for a nice campus and a place where I can get a good education."

Austin would also prefer to attend college in small town. "I do like the smaller town atmosphere like at Clemson or Auburn instead of somewhere like Carolina," stated the powerful lineman.

The Camden native attended several games last year. "I went to the Clemson game against North Carolina. I also went to a game at Auburn and also saw Florida State play Duke."
