Marlboro County DB Likes Tigers

Marlboro County High School will be a frequent stop for college recruiters as cousins Bryant McLaughlin and Rendrick Taylor will be two of South Carolina's top prospects for the class of 2005. caught up with Bryant McLaughlin and we've got his early favorites and his thoughts about playing with his cousin.

McLaughlin, who was an All-State safety last year, had a very impressive junior season. Overall, he finished with 92 tackles, 25 solo and 3 interceptions as a safety. He also had 128 yards as a receiver and 6 blocked field goals.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect has has 3 early favorites as he prepares for his senior year. "Georgia, Clemson and Tennessee are my favorites," McLaughlin said in a recent interview with "Tennessee is the only one showing interest right now."

When asked what position he expects to play at the collegiate level, McLaughlin responded, "I will probably play safety."

McLaughlin finished his junior season with 92 tackles 3 INTs in being named to the All-State team.
The rising senior, who runs a 4.49 forty, has all the physical skills to be an outstanding safety at the collegiate level. "My strengths are my pass coverage skills. I am also a good run stopper."

McGlaughin also says that he would also love to play with his teammate and cousin Rendrick Taylor in college. "We are cousins. We talk about playing together almost every day."

Taylor will be making an early commitment as he is on schedule to graduate in December. McLaughlin will graduate with the rest of his class but he may also make an early commitment. "If I had a chance to go to one of my favorites I might make a quick decision," stated the prize recruit.

McLaughlin is also already thinking about where he would like to camp this summer. "I would like to go to one of the Nike camps. I'd also like to go to Clemson and Georgia."

When asked which team from South Carolina has caught his interest the most, McLaughlin said, "I grew up rooting for Clemson."
