Coach Purnell Opening Comments
Obviously we are coming off an outstanding win over an excellent ball club in N.C. State, I thought it was one of our better performances of the year on both ends of the floor. Defensively, we really guarded N.C. State's defensive players. I thought our big guys in particular did a good job of getting out and contesting. Offensively, I thought we had offensive control, which we haven't had a lot of this year. We didn't turn the ball over and we had some patience. So I thought on both ends of the floor, we played one of our best games of the year.

The win should give us a shot in the arm as far as confidence is concerned. Hopefully this will be something we can build on. We want to finish strong and we are really looking forward to this next game against Virginia. They are a team that beat us up at their place but now we have them on our own homecourt. This is another important game for us and a chance for us to put together a two-game winning streak in the ACC.

On the Development of Akin Akingbala
He continues to improve as a basketball player. He's a young, inexperienced player with a wealth of ability and athleticism. He's been working at it. He shows up at practice and has been trying to get better. We've been on him quite a bit, but he's taken that criticism in a positive way. But because of that, and because of that work and approach and attitude, he's improved a lot for us.
