Tuesday Morning Recruiting Updates

We've got the latest on all the major players looking at Clemson in the state of South Carolina. Updates on Troy Williamson, Travis Anderson, Cory Groover, Kelvin Grant and Reggie Merriweather including season stats, top schools, and other information that you can't go without are contained in this report.

Troy Williamson had another big night with 96 yards rushing and two touchdowns on just six carries while adding two catches for 56 yards. Silver Bluff destroyed Burke High School 50-0 in the first round of the AA playoffs. Williamson also dropped two sure touchdown passes which put a slight damper on his evening (if there is such a thing in a 50-0 romp).

Williamson is still listing the Tigers and South Carolina as his top two schools. Georgia Tech and Georgia also remain high on his list, and Tennessee just recently offered him a scholarship last week.

Travis Anderson hauled in two passes for 50 yards and rushed 3 times for 23 yards and a touchdown as Byrnes rolled past Boiling Springs 41-3. South Carolina is still holding a slight lead over Clemson for his services.

On the year, Anderson has 25 catches for 479 yards and 7 touchdowns.

North Augusta RB Reggie Merriweather carried the ball 30 times for 406 yards and scored 6 TDs including an 80 yard touchdown run with 2 minutes left in the game as North Augusta beat Lexington 49-42.

Merriweather now has 2318 yards on 324 carries and 29 touchdowns on the year. In his most recent interview, he has stated that Clemson and Florida are his top two schools.

Merriweather overcame a slight concussion in the first half after a blistering hit to go on to his record setting evening.

Clemson verbal commitment Cory Groover of Hannah-Pamplico has 943 yards on 106 carries and 16 touchdowns as the featured running back in the Red Raiders' offense. Perhaps more importantly, (since he is projected as a defensive end in college) Cory has 119 tackles and 5 sacks from his outside linebacker position on one of the toughest defenses in the state.

Hannah Pamplico is now 9-2 on the year, and Head Coach Stan Drawdy has said that Cory is progressing nicely with his academics.

Kelvin Grant has now wrapped up his regualar season as he had 35 catches for 825 yards and 8 touchdowns. Grant, who has been almost exclusively double covered throughout the year, has been to Clemson on five different occasions this season. His current leaders are Clemson, Auburn, Georiga Tech, Auburn, and South Carolina.
