S Damien Wright
6-2, 185, 4.46
Crestwood High School
Sumter, South Carolina
The 6-2, 190 pound defender had a very impressive junior campaign as he roamed the secondary for Crestwood. Wright tallied 112 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 6 sacks and 1 interception. He also played well on special teams, blocking 3 punts and returned 12 kick returns for 247 yards.
Wright is still awaiting his first offer, but several programs are showing interest at this time. "Nebraska, Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia Tech and Stanford are all sending letters right now," Wright told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.
When asked if there were any early favorites, Wright responded, "I would like for Georgia to start writing. I'm probably leaning towards Clemson right now because they are showing the most interest."
The Crestwood standout, who runs a 4.42 forty, knows how to roam the field at his safety position. "My strength is probably my closing speed. I'm not real heavy, but my speed brings a good hit."
Wright will be working hard over the next few months to prepare for his senior season. "I will hit the weight room real hard. I would like to get to about 210. I also want to bring down my 40."
The summer camp plans are "I am planning to camp at Clemson, Georgia, and the Nike camp at Georgia Tech this summer," stated Wright.
The star defender would like to make an early commitment if the right offer comes along. "If someone offers and I feel like it's the best plan then I will probably commit early. I would like to get the process over if the right team offers."
