Oliver Purnell Teleconference (11:13)
Coach Purnell Opening Comments:
I'm looking forward to tomorrow. It is an important day in our program in that it is senior day. I always look at senior day as a day to honor your seniors. I spoke to our team about it briefly yesterday about what it means to me and to our program. I told them the best way you can show what seniors mean to your team and to your program is in how you play. We are playing a team that is good as anybody in the country on any given night in Georgia Tech. Hopefully, Elder won't have the same kind of night against us like he did before. I thought we did a good job containing the rest of their team the last time we played them. We rebounded well, but we didn't have an answer for Elder.
Comments on Senior Beau Shay:
He's a guy that obviously believes in commitment. Once he starts something, he believes he should finish it. This year, for me he was a total team guy. He's a great guy to have in the locker room. When you couple that with the fact that he's an outstanding student and a an oustanding person, he's a role model. I've got nothing but great things to say about Beau.
Comments on Chris Hobbs:
I think he's had a solid year, I'm sure he would have liked to have a better year. As far as I'm concerned, you would define better year as winning more ball games. As far as leadership goes on our team, I think Chris has handled his role well. He's gotten better and learned a lot. He has the respect of the players. He's a quality person, and he's wanted to do well in that role as been a positive for the team.
