NC ATH Will Camp at Clemson

The successful transition from track to gridiron proved that RB/CB Re'quan Boyette of Wilson (N.C.) Fike can adapt to change with ease. But, could he make the jump from high school to college ranks?

"Oh yeah," assured the 5-10 183-pounder.

Boyette was a track star before earning success on the football field, where he owned a 10.6 100-meter. With the pigskin in his hands, his accolades are just as impressive. Boyette won Conference Player of the Year in 2003 by amassing 1,084 yards and 15 touchdowns on only 100 carries.

These accomplishments have forced recruiters to take notice. Boyette doesn't have any offers on the table yet, but is receiving interest from North Carolina, Duke, Clemson, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame. He claims all the above schools have a shot at him, but admits the Tar Heels could have a slight edge.

"I'm pretty much open," remarked Boyette. "I really want to see what offers are going to come about. North Carolina does have a slight advantage because it is very close to where I live and I have grown up a diehard North Carolina fan."

Boyette was able to get a better idea of what UNC is all about during his visit to Chapel Hill for the Tar Heels' Junior Day. He said enjoyed the activities and speaking to the coaches one-on-one.

"It was great," exclaimed Boyette. "I had a fun time out there. Talking to the coaches and watching the game was just great."

This summer, Boyette plans to camp at Chapel Hill and Clemson. He doesn't, however, plan to attend any additional junior days.
