Palmetto State Battle Shaping Up for DB

Brookland-Cayce will be a frequent stop for college recruiters next fall and one of the stars they will be watching is free safety Corleon Brown. Which teams are showing early interest for the South Carolina standout?

The 5-11, 170 pound prospect, who earned All-Region honors as a junior, finished with 91 tackles, 33 unassisted, 6 interceptions, 1 touchdown, and 4 blocked kicks.

There are no offers at this time for the talented defender but he is getting attention from the in-state schools. "Clemson and South Carolina are both showing interest," Brown said in a recent interview with CUTigers.com. "But I have no favorites at this time."

Brown showed last season that he has the physical skills to compete at the collegiate level. "My speed and my ability to find the ball are my biggest strengths," stated Brown.

The prize recruit is working harder to get ready for his senior season. "I want to get stronger for next season. I am working hard in the weight room."

Brown is not the only Brookland-Cayce standout that will be getting attention this fall as linebacker Vincent Scott and defensive lineman Cedrick Gordon will also two of the states best next year. "We hang out a lot. Cedric and Vincent talk to me a lot about playing together in college."

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding defensive back from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2005.
