Georgetown Prep (Md.) unsigned 6-9, 220-pound senior Davis Nwankwo plans to take a visit to Northwestern next week and will also likely visit Vanderbilt during his two-week school break.
Nwankwo, who has made it no secret that he favors Arizona, will likely come to a mutual agreement with his parents - who favored Stanford and strong academics all along. Nwankwo did not get into Stanford, so the Cardinal are off his list.
Sources tell TheInsiders.com that Nwankwo won't go all the way to the west coast despite recent interest from Gonzaga and UCLA.
Clemson is another school in the mix. Tigers coach Oliver Purnell came to meet with Nwankwo earlier in the month. Nwankwo averaged 11 points, 10 rebounds and four assists per game this season, leading Prep to a 20-6 overall record and the Interstate Athletic Conference regular-season title. He also has a 3.8 GPA.
Clemson lost junior guard Chey Christie yesterday when the school announced that Christie would transfer before the start of his senior season.
Coach Purnell told The Greenville News that he will save the extra scholarship should he not be able to find a "strong player."
Extra Scholarship Could Net Nwankwo
