Coach Crolley feels the rising senior will be a special player for Lakewood High this season and the college of his choice down the road. "He can run and he has outstanding speed. He can see the field as good as anybody we ever had."

Neal already has offers from Maryland, Duke, Vanderbilt and Iowa State, but look for that list to grow over the next few months, as the interest level is high from a number of programs.

The Palmetto state schools have not offered yet but they are showing strong interest according to Coach Crolley. "South Carolina is on him and I just talked with Coach Swinney yesterday. He has requested some more film."

When asked if he has any early favorites, Neal responded, "I'm pretty open right now."

The Lakewood High standout has attended several Junior Days over the past few weeks. "I went to South Carolina, Duke and Georgia," stated Neal.

How did he enjoy the visit to South Carolina? "It was a long day. We left early, like 4 AM. It was alright though."

Neal had an outstanding junior season for Lakewood High as he rushed for over 900 yards including 10 touchdowns. Most schools are recruiting the South Carolina star as a running back but Maryland is recruiting him as a defensive back.

"My strengths are breaking tackles and getting away from people. My speed helps me out a lot."

Neal also hopes to work on his receiving skills during his senior season. "I want to work on catching the ball out of the backfield. I didn't get a chance to do that much last year."

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding running back from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2005.
