The Tigers improved to 11-10 overall and 2-0 in the ACC, while Wake Forest fell to 11-13 and 1-4 in ACC play.
Junior Tyler Lumsden earned the victory for the Tigers, improving to 1-1 for the year. He allowed only two earned runs and struck out seven in 7.0 innings pitched. Antonelli scored on the play and Tucker advanced to third on an errant throw to the cutoff man. Brad Scioletti plated Tucker with a groundball to the shortstop, giving Wake Forest a 3-0 lead.
The Demon Deacons added another run in the third inning when Antonelli reached base on a throwing error, advanced to second on Ben Ingold's groundball back to the pitcher and scored on Tucker's single.
Clemson tied the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the third inning. Herman Demmink led off the inning with a single through the left side. Tyler Colvin followed with an infield single that the second baseman overthrew, allowing Demmink to reach third base. Brad McCann then drove in the runners with a double down the left field line.
