An offensive line prospect to keep a close eye on in the coming weeks is Matt McClernan. McClernan, 6-6 and 255 pounds, plays for Norcross (Ga.) High School.
"I have scholarship offers from North Carolina and Northwestern," said McClernan. "I will visit Northwestern (12-8), North Carolina (1-11), Stanford (1-18) and Clemson (1-25). "Of course, I would like to get playing time but I will base my decision on how good the team is and who I am the most comfortable with. It will come down to the visits. I am leaving my fifth visit open so it is up for grabs."
McClernan plays offensive tackle. He bench presses 370.
"I think I have pretty good mobility and move well. I have good feet and I get good leverage. I am slim but strong. I know I can hit the 300 pound mark in a few years."
McClernan camped at Tennessee and Clemson over the summer. He carries a 3.8 grade point average and has already scored a 1380 on the SAT.
