North Carolina LB Drawing Heavy Interest

Dudley High School was a hotbed for college football recruiters last year and 2004 promises to be no different. We've got the latest on Doninique Midgett, a powerful linebacker receiving interest from schools all around the southeast, including Clemson.

LB Dominique Midgett
6-2, 230, 4.7
Dudley High School
Greensboro, North Carolina

"I currently have offers from Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and Duke," Midgett told CUTigers.com in a recent interview. Expect that offer list to grow over the next few months as Maryland, Clemson, Georgia and Virginia are all showing interest."

When asked if he has any early favorites, Midgett responded, "It would probably be Georgia, Virginia, and Wake."

Midgett got a chance to see a few of the programs during spring practice earlier this year. "I made it to the junior day at Duke. I also made it up to Virginia. I'm going to camp at North Carolina and probably Georgia." Defensive coordinator John Lovett has been recruiting Midgett for the Clemson Tigers. "Everyone is recruiting me as a middle linebacker."

How does the Greensboro standout feel about the Clemson at this point in the recruiting process? "I know I could play down there. I would like to go visit and see how the school is."

Midgett grew up rooting for the Florida State Seminoles. Will distance be an important factor in his decision on where to play college ball? "No sir. Distance will not be an issue."

The 6-2, 230 pound defender has been working hard to lead Dudley to another outstanding season. "I've been working out and watching film. I'm trying to be a leader this year. We are having spring practice right now."

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding linebacker from North Carolina, right up through signing day 2005.
