Collins was responsible for the only 2 touchdowns of the Orange & White game this past April when he caught 8 and 9 yard scoring strikes from Charlie Whitehurst. Was that performance enough to help him increase his 4 reception total from 2003?
Collins was a second-team All-American by PrepStar after his senior year. He was also selected by the Atlanta Touchdown Club as Metro Atlanta Defensive Back-of-the-Year. He caught 4 passes last year in his first year of action as a Tiger.
Collins initially signed with Tennessee before transfering to Clemson before the start of the 2002 season. Last year, he brought in 4 passes for 49 yards. Standing somewhere between 6-feet-3 and 6-feet-4 inches tall, Collins should be in a position to see his production increase dramatically in 2004.

Collins has been somewhat of an enigma since transferring to Clemson. Many thought he would use his height to his advantage, particularly in jump-ball situations. With former Tigers Kevin Youngblood and Derrick Hamilton no longer in the mix, he should have many more opportunities in 2004. In addition, he must continue to improve his hands, and his ability to catch the football in tight spaces.
Collins' height has been a hot topic of conversation ever since his arrival on campus two years ago. The former Commerce High School star shed some light for us on that very subject last year. "It depends on who is measuring me," said Collins with a chuckle. "Before I got here, they measured me at 6-6. Then when I got here they measured me at 6-4, but I was listed as 6-3."
When it comes to the Tigers' wide receivers, most fans remember Chansi Stuckey and Kelvin Grant as the stand-out performers from spring practice. In fact, it wasn't until the Orange & White game that Collins started to receive significant publicity. Heading into fall practice, Collins is listed behind Curtis Baham and Kelvin Grant, but he should be in position to catch between 15 and 20 passes this year.
