June 10th Minor League Update

Rob Key checks back in to give us an update on former Tigers currently playing Minor League Baseball. If you know of someone else that we may have missed on this list, please let us know!

Henri Stanley is in AAA with the Red Sox after being traded from the Padres a couple of weeks ago. In 15 games, he has 13 hits in 57 at bats for a .228 batting average. He has 5 doubles, 0 triples, no home runs and 3 RBI. He's walked 3 times and struck out 9.

Former Tiger football and baseball player Matt Padgett is doing very well in AAA with the Florida Marlins. He's played in 56 games and has 53 hits in 182 at bats for a .291 batting average. He has 13 doubles, 2 triples, and 11 home runs and has accounted for 41 RBI. He's walked 9 times and struck out 45.

Mike Holtz is in AAA with the Devil Rays. He's appeared in 16 games and has a 1-2 record. In 16 games, he has a 4.22 ERA. He's pitched 21 innings, giving up 10 runs (all earned), has walked 8 and struck out 25.

Matt White was recently traded from the Indians to the Royals. He's now playing in AAA in Omaha where he's appeared in one game. He's pitched 2.2 innings and given up no earned runs, for a 0.00 ERA. He's given up 2 hits, has walked 1 and struck out 5.

Gary Burnham, who's best known for throwing a fair ball into the stands in the College World Series is playing in the Reds organization in AAA after spending a couple of years in AAA with the Blue Jays. In 33 games, he has 26 hits in 103 at bats, for a .252 batting average. He's hit 6 doubles, no triples and 1 home run, which gives him 12 RBI. He's walked 14 times and struck out 17.

Mike Paradis was recently demoted from AAA to AA in the Orioles organization. In 2 games in AA, he's pitched 2 innings and given up 5 hits and 4 runs (all earned), giving him an 18.00 ERA. He's walked 5 and struck out 1.

Justin Singleton is in AA with the Blue Jays. In 51 games, he has 166 at bats and has hits in 36 of them, for a .217 batting average. He's hit 7 doubles, 6 triples and 7 home runs and driven in 18. He's walked 16 times and struck out 50.

Patrick Boyd is in AA with the Rangers. He's played in 49 games and has 34 hits in 161 at bats, for a .211 batting average. He's hit 6 doubles, 3 triples, and 5 home runs and has accounted for 21 RBI. He's walked 16 times and struck out 50.

Matt Henrie is in AA with the Diamondbacks, where he's played in 12 games. As a hitter, he has 3 hits in 12 at bats for a .250 batting average. He's hit 1 double, no triples and a homer, giving him 2 RBI. He hasn't walked and has struck out 5 times. As a pitcher, he has a 7-2 record with a 4.99 ERA. He's pitched 70.1 innings, given up 84 hits, 44 runs, 39 of them earned, walked 15 and struck out 43.

Ryan Riley is in high-A with the Devil Rays. He must be on the disabled list, because he hasn't played recently. In the 5 games in which he has appeared, he has 3 hits in 16 at bats, giving him a .188 batting average. He has no doubles, triples, home runs, or RBI, has walked twice and struck out 4 times.

Michael Johnson, who's in high-A with the Padres, has apparently come out of his slump in the last few games. In 50 games, he has 200 at bats and has hits in 48 of them, for a .240 batting average. He's hit 13 doubles, 2 triples and 10 home runs, to account for 35 RBI. He's walked 35 times and struck out 70.

Jeff Baker is in high-A with the Rockies, in the same league as Riley, Johnson, and Josh Cram. Baker has played in 48 games and has 64 hits in 185 at bats, which is a .346 batting average. He's hit 16 doubles, 1 triple, and 5 home runs. He's driven in 41 runs, walked 30 times and struck out 47 times.

Josh Cram is in high-A with the Giants. He's appeared in 18 games and has a 1-0 record and a 6.04 ERA. He's pitched 25.1 innings, given up 37 hits and 18 runs, 17 of them earned. He's walked 12 and struck out 11.

Ryan Mottl was recently granted his release from the Reds and picked up by the Pirates, where he could join former Tiger Kris Benson one day. He's currently in high A. He's appeared in 1 game, has a record of 0-1 and an ERA of 15.43. He's pitched 2.1 innings, given up 5 runs (4 of them earned) on 4 hits, walked 1 and struck out 1.

B.J. LaMura is in high-A with the White Sox. He's appeared in 11 games and has a 3-5 record. He's pitched 58.1 innings and has an ERA of 5.71. He's given up 44 hits, 37 of them earned, on 73 hits. He's walked 27 and struck out 45.

Steve Pyzik is having an amazing year in low-A with the Braves. He's played in 21 games and has 15 hits in 38 at bats, for a .395 batting average. He's hit 6 doubles, 1 triple and no home runs, while driving in 11. He's walked 3 times and struck out 2.

Ryan Childs was recently demoted from AAA to low-A by the Orioles, where he's appeared in 4 games. He has a record of 0-1, but has recorded one save. He has a 1.59 ERA in 5.2 innings pitched. He's given up 2 hits and 2 runs, one of which was earned. He's walked four and also struck out 4.

Jarrod Schmidt is in low-A with the Reds. He's played in 17 games and has 10 hits in 59 at bats, for a .169 batting average. He has no doubles or triples, but has hit one home run. He's driven in 5 runs, walked 7 times and struck out 24.

As the recent draftees that sign begin play in the minors, they will be added to this list in the future.
