LB Quincy Marshall
6-0, 225, 4.7
Clarke Central High School
Quincy Marshall is a 6' and 225 pound middle linebacker for the Gladiators. While leading them to the Region Championship last year, Marshall, the Defensive MVP tallied up 128 total tackles (87 solo), two sacks, 21 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions, and two fumble recoveries.
Marshall is getting attention from across the country. Quincy says "I am getting letters from all over. I am getting attention from everywhere. Some of the schools recruiting me the hardest right now are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Virginia, Notre Dame and Maryland."
So, who are the first two schools to step up and offer Marshall?
"I have written offers from Alabama and Georgia Tech right now."
Head Coach of Clarke Central William DeVane says "Both Georgia and Florida called and told me scholarships are on the way."
Quincy attended Clemson's camp two weekends ago. When asked how that went, he said "It went well. I worked out at middle linebacker and had a good time."
What other camps does Quincy plan to attend?
"I went to a team camp at Georgia Southern last weekend, and then I am attending Alabama's camp this weekend, followed by Florida's camp July 10th."
Marshall is a very good athlete that is very strong as well. "I bench 320 lbs, Squat 540 lbs and Power Clean 310 lbs. I have been working out with Ben Watson at UGA for a while now."
What are his strengths and weakness' on the gridiron?
"My strengths would be, I am great tackler, especially in the open field, I bring a lot of power and intensity to the field also. Not too many weaknesses', but one thing I would like to get better at is making quicker reads."
"I try to model my game after NFL All Pro Middle Linebacker Ray Lewis."
With the impressive numbers Marshall put up last year, he looks to do even better this year.
"My personal goals this year are...I want 160 plus tackles, five interceptions, five fumble recoveries and ten sacks. My number one team goal is to Retain our Region Championship we won last year."
Does Quincy have an early leader?
"Nah, no leader or even favorites really. I am very open to the recruiting process and I look to take my time, take all my visits and have fun with it. I will definitely take all five visits. I feel if I visit two or three schools and commit I may miss something, and I don't want to cut myself short."
When the time comes for his decision, what will Quincy look for in a school?
"Number one is the school has to have my major (Sports Medicine). After that, just have a good program, comfortable environment and nice coaches."
Mr. Marshall is posting a 3.2 GPA right now and is on pace to be a full qualifier. He took the SAT on the 5th of June and has completely passed all graduation exams.
