Mason Likes Clemson, Va Tech

Every recruiting season, there is that one school that seems to pump out more than its fair share of division I-A prospects.

DE/TE Ronnie Mason
6-3, 235, 4.65
Southern Durham High School
Durham, North Carolina

For the class of 2005, one such school is Southern Durham (N.C.) which boasts three players currently holding offers (Maurice Covington, Brandon Woods and Charles Gamble), in addition to others who potentially could be in the same situation before signing day.

DE/TE Ronnie Mason is one such player who currently doesn't own any offers, but should a few months down the road. Unlike Covington, Woods and Gamble, Mason must earn his offers with his performances in summer camps and early season games.

"All the schools that want to offer me they say they want to see film from this year," stated Mason who is receiving interest from N.C. State, Clemson, North Carolina, Duke and Virginia Tech. "I have only been playing football since tenth grade, so I don't have much experience. They want to see how I do in the beginning of the season."

With an empty offer sheet, Mason is completely open at this point. However, the 6-foot-3, 235-pounder does favor two schools.

"I like Clemson and Virginia Tech," stated Mason. "I have been to Clemson a couple of times and I just like the fact that they have good [academic] support and that they have a family environment. [I like that] Virginia Tech is all for success and winning games and education."

Mason has made his rounds on the summer camping circuit with stops at Clemson, Duke and N.C. State. Upcoming, he has scheduled North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
