Mullins offensive lineman JaMarcus Grant hit the beach over the holiday weekend to take a break from his summertime workouts. "I went to Myrtle beach with my family, we had a good time."

When asked if he is getting closer to making a commitment, Grant responded, "Yes sir. I'm just a bit closer."

Grant has been a hard Clemson lead for the last few weeks.

The Mullins standout will likely make his commitment over the next few weeks. "I would like to make it before the season starts but I could just let it ride out. I would like to be at ease. Bam, get it out of the way and know that I'm going to a great school."

The 6-foot-5, 310-pound prospect is working hard to prepare to lead Mullins during his senior campaign. "I'm lifting hard and working out, probably 4 to 6 days a week. I'm going to start doing some speed drills now to get ready for July 30 when we start practice."

Grant is very familiar with the Tigers' depth chart at offensive tackle. "Clemson is looking at me as an offensive tackle. One of the things I like about them right now is their depth chart."

Tiger fans will be thanking Grant's grandfather if he ends up playing for the Tigers. "At one point I wanted to go to Tennessee. My family didn't really want that. My granddaddy has always been a Clemson fan. He was proud of me when I said Clemson was on top. He retired just so he can see me play."

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding offensive lineman from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2005.
