ATH Antavious Coates
6-4, 180, 4.55
Greenwood High School
Greenwood, South Carolina

"I have 5 offers right now. Auburn, Clemson, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and South Carolina State are my offers," said Coates in a recent interview with CUTigers.com.

Look for that offer list to increase over the next few months as Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Georgia are also showing interest.

When asked when he plans to make a commitment, Coates responded, "I've been talking with my family and my coaches. They think it's best for me to make a decision before the season starts. It will be a lot easier to play without the stress of deciding where I will go to school. I will have no worries and can concentrate on the team."

With a decision coming over the next few weeks, who are the current favorites for the 6-4, 180 pound prospect? "Clemson and Georgia are at the top," said Coates.

The Tigers already had their chance to impress Coates when he camped at Clemson earlier this year, and now the Georgia Bulldogs will get their opportunity later this week. "I went to the one day camp at Clemson. I also attended the one day camp at South Carolina. I plan to go to Georgia this Friday and Saturday.

"My trip to Clemson went real well. I talked with Travis Pugh. They told me how everything is going down there. I felt real good about the Clemson program."

Where would the Tigers like to see Coates play in Death Valley? "Coach Bowden told me he likes me as a free safety, but they also could give me a look as a receiver."

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding athlete from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2005.
