ATH C.J. Byrd
6-3, 184, 4.5
North Augusta High School
North Augusta, South Carolina
The offer list for the 6-3, 185 pound prospect stands at 33 as he prepares for his senior season. "Syracuse was my last offer. I think I have most of my offers now," said South Carolina's top prospect in a recent interview with CUTigers.com.
When asked if he has any early favorites, Byrd responded, "No sir. I'm going to break it down to 5 or 7 by the end of the summer."
Byrd did not make the summer camp tour like many other prospects. "I haven't been to any. I don't plan to go to any this summer."
The rising senior is unsure when he will make a decision about where he will attend college. "I don't know. Whenever it comes. It's a tough decision."
Several factors will help the South Carolina star narrow his list over the next few weeks. "I will look at the education. Then I will look at the sports program meaning I will look at who's winning and losing. I will also look at the relationship with the coaches and players."
Distance will not play a major role in Byrd's decision. "My family wants me to stay close to home, but they also want whatever fits me best."
How will his family impact his decision? "They are really trying to stay out of it. They are hands on but hands off."
We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding athlete from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2005.
