The Scoop
Redshirt junior Roosevelt Nelson currently sits on the third team at the MIKE linebacker position. While he hasn't seen a tremendous amount of playing time in his Clemson career, he figures to see an increased role in 2004.

Key Points
  • Nelson played in 11 of 13 games as a special-teams player in 2002. In 2003, he saw action in all 13 games, getting in on 55 total plays. Overall, he recorded 12 total tackles playing mostly on special teams and as a reserve linebacker.

  • Roosevelt currently sits on the third team behind LeRoy Hill and David Dunham at the MIKE linebacker position.

  • Roosevelt is also the brother of teammate Maurice Nelson. Both players attended Crestwood High School. Maurice figures to see time as a rover this season.

    Outlook
With the emergence of LeRoy Hill, Nelson became somewhat lost in the shuffle at linebacker last season. Now entering his 4th year at Clemson, he could be in position for as many as 100 snaps this year, or even more should he turn it on during fall practice.
