Long Would Commit to Clemson If Offered

For the first time since Southport (N.C.) South Brunswick wide receiver Scott Long tore his left Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) back on August 29th of last year, things are looking up. "Clemson has always pretty much been my number one," said Long.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder still only claims an offer from Louisville, but expects that to change within the next couple of weeks.

"I just went up to Wake [Forest] about two weeks ago," stated Long. "Coach [Tom] Elrod said that they would be offering very soon. He said they were going on some sort of vacation or something and that they would be offering whenever they got back.

"Duke is the same way, but coming off the knee surgery they want me to send them early tape from next season before they offer. But they said I would be, pretty much, the next guy in line.

"Clemson is really close to offering they haven't yet, though. And Probably N.C. State soon I just went to their camp."

Long hopes to verbally commit before the season with the rights to his services most likely coming down to who offers first between his two favorite schools: Clemson and Wake Forest.

"If either Clemson or Wake [Forest] offer I definitely would commit," remarked Long.

"Clemson has always pretty much been my number one. And Wake whenever I came up and visited they told me if I were to commit with them that, even before signing, if I were to get hurt – god forbid – next season that I could still go to school there for four years on scholarship."

Long will spend the remainder of his summer preparing for the season, but attended camps at Clemson, N.C. State, and Duke.
