The 6-foot-3, 295-pound prospect spent the past few days working out with his teammates. "We went down to a National Guard base. We stayed for 4 days. They call it our hell week. It was hell," said Humphries.

The Clemson verbal commitment says that his team should have a strong showing this season. "We are looking good. We might have a chance at the state this year," said the three-star prospect.

In terms of recruiting, things have calmed down now that everyone knows about his commitment. "It's amazing. I still get letters but its not crazy. It's not like it use to be."

When asked if his commitment to the Tigers is firm, Humphries responded, "It's very firm. Clemson will be the only one I take a trip to later this year."

"I've been lifting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I've also been having running sessions. We've been doing that since school got out."

The lifting has paid off as Humphries has added some weight this summer. "I'm at about 295 now. I finished last season at about 260 pounds, so 've gained about 30 pounds. It's all muscle. People don't believe I weigh as much as I do."

The Humphries family is excited about Barry's future with Clemson. "My whole family is excited. They can't wait for me to get up there. Hopefully I can play my first year so they won't have to wait long to see me play."

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding offensive lineman from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2005.
