Is it good now that you are finally back out there practicing with the first game in mind, as opposed to the spring when it's just you against your teammates and that's about it?
Whitehurst: Yeah, you are practicing for somebody else now. In the spring it's always you against your teammates. Now, we've got the first game coming up so it gives you something more to look forward to.
With Derrick Hamilton and Kevin Youngblood gone, do you have to put in some extra work with the new guys this year?
Whitehurst: Well you need that every year, but probably more this year because we don't have that much experience coming back. That's something you always think about.
So much was made about how last season ended, but how do you carry that over to this season?
Whitehurst: I think we can do it of course. I'm optimistic. But it's a new challenge for us because we are used to being the underdog. This year, we know that we aren't going to sneak up on anybody. We have to handle the success we had. It's a new challenge. We welcome it. Last year is in the past.
Talk a little bit about Chansi Stuckey and his role in the offense this year.
Whitehurst: He could probably make a lot of people forget about Derrick Hamilton. I think Chansi is probably more electric if we can get him to catch the balls Derrick did. I'm amazed sometimes, and he hasn't been in a game yet, but it's amazing some of the things he can do.
Your dad has been to a few practices this year, how do feel about him watching you in person?
Whitehurst: Well I like to see him out here. A lot of the guys like to talk to him, I think they think he's cool because he used to be a football player. I don't know if that's true or not (laughing). Its fun, I think a lot of the parents come out and he's here because he likes two-a-days.
