The Tigers returned to the practice fields today for the first time since Saturday's scrimmage. Practice began around 5:30 PM and concluded a little over two hours later.

Dukes Injury
Marion Dukes left practice early today with what was termed a "chest injury" by head coach Tommy Bowden. The injury turned out to be a rib injury and is not believed to be serious.

Roman Fry and Akeem Robinson replaced Dukes temporarily at his position at right tackle. Tim DeBeer, the normal back up missed practice today with an ankle injury.

Bowden referred to Fry as a "putty man" because he play so many positions. "He's like putty, he can fix any kind of leak you've got," said Bowden.

Fry spent time at left tackle, left guard, right guard, and right tackle during today's practice.

Wake Forest Planning
With the bulk of preseason practice now behind the team, the focus this week turns towards Wake Forest.

"We worked on Wake a lot today, and we will from here on out. We'd still like to get some one's on one's from a competition stand point. We'll do that some to get some additional work."

Bowden also said that for the most part, position changes have ended as the preparations intensify for the season opener.

"Right now, no," said Bowden. "Not so much would we consider position changes as we would changes on the depth chart. If we lost a running back, we would probably move Brandon Nolen back, but other than that, no."

Future Secondary
Bowden praised the efforts of his freshmen defensive backs this afternoon.

"I really like the efforts of Brandon Croley, Chris Clemons, Adrian Kindred, and Michael Hamlin," said Bowden. "Those four secondary guys, being able to redshirt them looks pretty good. We hope to red-shirt them, but that could be a strong secondary as a unit in the future."

Bowden also mentioned La'Donte Harris and Cortney Vincent once again for their strong play of late.
