Will Leroy Hill Play Saturday?
Head coach Tommy Bowden said today after practice today that Leroy Hill's status won't be determined until Saturday during warm ups.
"We didn't wear shoulder pads today, so I just told him to do what he could do and then we'd go out there game day just cut full speed and see if he can go," said Bowden.
Bowden reiterated that no x-rays have been taken. "Somebody stepped on it and then he tried to turn," Bowden said.
Bowden also said he's listed as "51-49" in terms of playing against Wake Forest. Yesterday he listed Hill as "50-50."
Dean or Furr?
As Saturday's season opener draws ever closer, the pressure to find a starting placekicker is mounting, and for the first time in several weeks, Tommy Bowden gave the slightest advantage to one of his specialists.
"I'm probably going to kick them right up until game time. Furr might be a little bit ahead of Dean," said Bowden.
When asked if there could be a situation where both kickers were used Saturday, the sixth year head coach said, "Yes, very much so."
Dean continues to demonstrate the stronger leg in practice, but Furr appears to be a fraction ahead in terms of accuracy.
The Tigers practiced in shorts and helmets today...Dean will handle kickoffs this year...Bowden reiterated today that all three running backs will receive carries Saturday, Yusef Kelly will start, but Reggie Merriweather and Kyle Browning will also see action...Roman Fry continues to learn four positions, Bowden said he was "learning two guards, and two tackles."
