Tigers Take Care of Business Against Elon

Clemson overcame a sluggish start to beat Elon 88-78 Saturday night at Littlejohn Coliseum. With the win the Tigers improve to 7-3 on the year. Clemson's next game will be Tuesday evening against Winthrop.

Jamar McKnight scored 23 points to lead Clemson to an 88-78 win against Elon in front of more than 7,000 fans at Littlejohn Coliseum.

The Tigers (7-3) turned the ball over 24 times, but more than made up for it by shooting 52.6 percent (30-of-57) from the field.

Clemson also continued to rebound well, as the Tigers outrebounded Elon 44-34.

McKnight's 23 points was a direct result of some hot shooting in the first half as he nailed 4-of-6 3-point attempts. Tony Stockman also is slowly emerging from his shooting slump, as he hit 4 of 10 from long range.

Elon actually led for most of the first half and was ahead by three points with only 12:55 to go. But the Phoenix wouldn't score another basket for the next six minutes and the Tigers took control of the game.
