Battle Says Dawgs Lead

Roderick Battle, one of South's premier defensive linemen, went on his second unofficial visit this past weekend. Battle went to Clemson when they hosted Georgia Tech earlier in the year and headed over to Athens to take in the Georgia / Tennessee game Saturday.

How did Battle like his first game day experience at Georgia and does this bring him closer to his decision?

"I had a great time," said Battle. "It was all really nice."

What did Battle take part in during his time in Athens?

"I got to talk to Coach Richt when I got there and that was really nice. I also talked to Coach Garner, VanGorder and defensive ends Coach Fabris. I basically got a chance to talk to all the defensive coaches for Georgia. I got a chance to watch a highlight film on last year's team and also take part in the dawgwalk. That was very nice."

"I couldn't believe people knew who I was. I then watched the pre-game from the sidelines and got to talk to Coach Bobo and Garner again."

How did the Georgia atmosphere compare to Clemson?

"Georgia was a lot better overall." With the visit behind him, is Battle ready to name a leader?

"Georgia is my leader right now over Auburn, Clemson and Alabama."

Battle is still not sure when a commitment could come. He wanted to get it behind him before September, but now decided to take a few trips to the schools he is interested in. The main thing is him knowing for sure that he is making the right decision. When he has that, then he will commit to the school of his choice.

Douglass is 6-1 and will host Redan (4-2) this weekend. Battle has a mildly sprained left ankle that kept him out of quarters three and four last Friday. Battle expects to be back close to 100% this week, though.
