Collins Appreciates Opportunity

"It felt good to finally get in and get some playing time and get some balls," said Clemson wide receiver Michael Collins in an interview with CUTigers.com. "It was all fun but now we have Maryland to prepare for this week."

Michael, huge game for you last weekend. It's got to make you feel good to be a part of this offense and be a contributor now.
Collins: Yeah, it felt good to finally get in and get some playing time and get some balls. It was all fun but now we have Maryland to prepare for this week.

This week at practice, are you now more involved in offense? Are you going to move in to a starting position? How does that work from here on out?
Collins: (laughing) Practice is going to be the same way it always has. I'm going to go out and work just like all the other receivers. Whatever happens happens at the end of the week.

Maryland has been a team that has given you guys some problems over the last few years. What is it they do that has carried them to the last three wins over you guys?
Collins: They do a really good job of press coverage and they have some DBs who are very good. Because they have such great athletes it's going to be difficult to get off the line and get down field and get separation. That's what we are going to work hard on this week.

Coming off of a win against Utah State does it make it a little easier to go out on the practice fields and get things going again?
Collins: Yeah, it's definitely a confidence booster and a moral booster for the team to get a win. Hopefully it will carry over in to a win this week.

I've asked you this the last few times I've talked to you but any chance you are going to try to play basketball here?
Collins: No, I don't think I'm going to try out for the basketball team anymore. It's a lot of time between football and school and then to try to put basketball on top of that there's just no time to really do anything.

Congratulations on a big week last week and we look forward to more of you this year.
Collins: I appreciate it.
