LB/DE Jon Demps
6-3, 223, 4.65
Washington Senior High School
The following information was revealed during our interview with Jon Demps:
What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6-5, 225, and I run a 4.51 forty."
What is your current bench press, squat, and vertical? "I bench 375, squat 500, and I was measured at 34" at the Florida State camp."
Which camps did you attend this summer? "Just Florida State and LSU."
Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Mostly linebacker but some end."
What are your strengths on the field? "Just listening to my coaches and playing within my ability. As far as physical strengths, I would say my speed."
What are you working on for the next level? "My footwork and getting my reads quicker. I just want to be more explosive."
How long have you been starting for Washington (4A)? "Ever since I was a sophomore."
Which positions have you played during this time frame? "I played them all at linebacker."
What were your stats as a junior? "I had 145 tackles, 3 sacks, and 6 forced fumbles."
Any awards? "Yes sir, I made All-State and All-District. I was our Defensive (District) Player of the Year too."
How did last year's team do on the field? "We were 4 - 6. We lost a lot of heartbreakers."
How is this year going? "Really, the same deal. We had 2 bad calls. We scored both times, but they called them back. We are 1 - 5 right now, but we are still going to make the playoffs."
What are your stats for the season? "I have over a 100 tackles. I had 3 sacks last game, but I do not know my totals."
Which schools are you looking at the hardest right now? "I have FSU, Miami, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Maryland, Clemson, and Auburn on my list."
Any offers? "They all have offered."
Have you set up your official visits yet? "I have set up two. I go to Miami (12/17) and LSU (12/3). I will probably visit Florida and Florida State, and my last visit will probably be Ole Miss or Auburn, something like that. You could throw Clemson in that mix too."
What do you like about LSU? "They have a good program, and they have a good academic support system for their players. It would be better for my family if I went there. My brother plays for them, Willie Demps."
What are Miami's positives? "They have the best program in the country. They send players to the league left and right and graduate them at the same time."
What about Ole Miss? "Just my ability to play early. They are in a major conference, and I could start my freshman year. That is a big."
And Auburn? "They are on a good winning streak. We will see how that plays out."
What do you like about Clemson? "Same as Ole Miss. They are an up and coming program, and I could start my freshman year in a major conference."
What are you looking for, when it comes decision time? "I want to pursue my dream of playing in the league."
What is your current GPA and ACT/SAT score? "I have a 2.8 Core GPA, and I made a 16 on both (ACT) attempts."
