Miami quarterback Brock Berlin completed 13 of 19 passes (68.4%) for
a career-high 361 yards and four touchdowns in Miami's 52-7 win over
Wake Forest. Berlin completed a 42-yard pass on the first play of
the game and followed that with a 39-yard strike on the third play
from scrimmage for the Hurricanes. The senior quarterback finished
the first half with 314 yards passing and three touchdowns.
Virginia Tech offensive tackle Jimmy Martin graded out at 90 percent
including a knockdown on 58 snaps. Martin helped lead the Hokie
offense to 239 yards rushing and 376 yards of total offense in
Virginia Tech's 55-6 win over Maryland last Thursday night in
North Carolina defensive end Hilee Taylor recorded three tackles, 2.5
sacks for losses of 22 yards and a forced fumble in North Carolina's
40-17 victory over Duke. The Tar Heels allowed a season-low 234
total yards, including 58 yards on the ground. Taylor set a true
freshman school record for sacks in a season with 4.5.
Virginia linebacker Darryl Blackstock had a season-high six tackles,
including four for a loss, in the Cavaliers' 30-10 win at Georgia Tech. It was Blackstock's fourth multi-sack game of the season and
third in a row. The junior also recorded a team-best three sacks to
lead a Virginia defense that held the Yellow Jackets to 86 yards
Clemson's Jad Dean and Virginia's Connor Hughes were named
specialists of the week after leading their respective teams to
victories this past weekend. Dean kicked three field goals of 21, 24
and 20 yards in Clemson's 29-7 victory over South Carolina. In seven
kickoffs, Dean sent four for touchbacks while holding the Gamecocks
to an average starting field position at their own 17-yard line.
Hughes nailed three field goals including a 43-yarder in the fourth
quarter and connected on all three extra points as Virginia topped
Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Hughes helped the Cavaliers to a perfect
4-for-4 in scoring opportunities from inside the red zone.
