Blackwell to be Named Coordinator

CUTigers.com has confirmed a week's worth of speculation. <BR>

When Clemson football coach Tommy Bowden conducts his staff meeting Sunday, it's expected he'll inform his assistant coaches that linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator David Blackwell will be the new defensive coordinator, sources close to the situation have told CUTigers.com.

The formal announcment by Clemson University could be made by Bowden as early as Monday afternoon at his season ending press conference.

Sources familiar with the situation said that Blackwell applied for the job vacated by John Lovett, who was fired Tuesday. The sources also said it was their understanding Blackwell got the job.

Sources also indicate that Blackwell would likely coach the secondary, similar to former defensive coordinator John Lovett, or coach the Rovers and Whips position.
