ATH Ramon McElrathbey

Mays High School
One of those is the University of Arkansas, a place the 6-0, 185-pound athlete will take an official visit to this weekend.
"The Arkansas program has a lot of tradition and it seems like every other coach I talk to tells me what a great guy (Razorback head football coach) Houston Nutt is," McElrathbey said. "So I want to come up there and see what he and the school are like for myself."
McElrathbey, who could also visit Minnesota in late January, is one of seven players that are expected to visit Arkansas this weekend as the Razorbacks host a second straight weekend of recruits on official visits.
McElrathbey, a quarterback in high school, is viewed as a cover cornerback by Clemson and a wideout by Arkansas.
"The coaches at Arkansas see me as a slot receiver and maybe somebody who could could also do some stuff out of the backfield like (USC star) Reggie Bush, " McElrathbey said. "Clemson wants me to play cornerback. But I actually would like to play both ways like Chris Gamble (of Ohio State)."
McElrathbey had 900 yards passing last season, a campaign he didn't get a lot done because of a hairline fracture in his ankle.
"I didn't miss any games, but I couldn't really run and just hopped around back there and threw passes," McElrathbey said. "We finished 5-5."
While he knows he has been blessed with some God-given talent, McElrathbey said his two biggest attributes are intangibles.
"I have the knowledge to know what to do on each play and the desire to get it done," McElrathbey said. "That's what helps push me over the top."
