The Search Progresses

Sources have confirmed that pieces may be falling into place on several aspects of the coaching changes taking place at Clemson. <BR> has confirmed that a meeting has taken place between offensive coordinator Rob Spence and Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden. The meeting occurred sometime this past weekend.

While the result and location of that meeting have not been made public, has learned that the wheels have been put into motion to begin talking about potential financial packages.

In order to lure Spence away, has also learned that a multi-year deal could be presented to the Toledo offensive coordinator.

Keep in mind that at this time, a formal offer to Spence has not yet been made, and that the University of Toledo may be in a position to try and counter this offer. has also learned that Tommy Bowden wants to make the announcement of his new offensive and defensive coordinators at the same time. That is one reason why the entire process may take longer than orginally expected.

Finally, first reported on Saturday that former Tiger great Dexter Davis has been contacted about taking an assistant coaching position. Davis is expected to continue those talks later this week with Tommy Bowden.

Sources have also told that Bowden wants to settle his staff on the offensive side of the ball, before finishing up his defensive staff. Top Stories
