The 6-3, 265 pound defensive lineman stayed home this weekend to take an official visit to Louisville.
The visit ended up being cut short by the Louisville coaching staff.
"They asked me to leave. Some of the other recruits had said I was bad-mouthing Louisville. They said I was going around saying I was going to Michigan. That was not true. I haven't even told my mother where I am going yet," McKinney told CUTigers.com.
"Louisville was actually tied for number one with Michigan before this weekend. I was ready to make a decision after this weekend. Now I am going to have to wait and see what happens."
When asked who are the favorites now that Louisville in not in the picture, McKinney responded, "Louisville is definitely out now. Michigan, Clemson and Nebraska are the ones I'm still considering." The prize recruit has already taken official visits to all of his favorites.
As it stands now, Michigan appears to have an advantage on the other favorites. "I just like the coaching staff at Michigan. There wasn't too much to do up there. I just enjoyed talking to the players. I spent a lot of time with the coaches."
Clemson assistant coach Ron West was one of many college coaches to call this weekend. "Yesterday my mother was talking to Coach West when I came in from my visit. I talked with him. He was asking about what happened this weekend," said McKinney.
What will Clemson or Nebraska have to do to pull even with Michigan? "I'm not sure at this point. I am just more familiar with the Michigan staff."
The Clemson coaching staff will make a strong push for the four-star defender in early January. "Coach West said that next year they are going to load the plane up and bring the whole coaching staff out for a visit."
McKinney says the Tigers will have a chance to sway him with the visit before he makes his decision. "I will not have made a decision by then," stated the powerful defensive lineman.
