Another Offer for Spence?

Does Toledo offensive coordinator Rob Spence have a bigger offer on the table than Clemson?<BR>

Toledo offensive coordinator Rob Spence, who seemed all but a lock to be Clemson's new offensive coordinator, may have a bigger offer headed his way very soon, has learned.

Spence has interviewed for the head coaching job at Miami of Ohio, and would most likely take the job if offered, a source familiar with the situation told Wednesday.

However, the hiring of a new coach at Miami of Ohio could take a while and Spence may not wait for the decision and opt to come to Clemson. But it's still very much up in the air as to what he will do.

This comes one day after a statewide radio network reported that Spence would "likely be introduced as the Tigers new offensive coordinator by next Tuesday or Wednesday." It was also reported that the details of the contract are "still being worked out, but there aren't expected to be any problems."

If Spence does turn down Tigers coach Tommy Bowden, it would be the second candidate to withdraw his name from consideration.

Earlier, former Florida offensive coordinator Larry Fedora chose to go with former Gators coach Ron Zook to Illinois, which made Spence the primary candidate at Clemson. Top Stories
