With just a few days remaining before he heads to Clemson, 2004 signee Jacquez McKissic is enjoying time with his family and friends. "I had a good Christmas. I just stayed around the house," McKissic told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.

One friend he will be seeing more of over the next few years is former Opelika teammate Adrian Kindred. "He came by the house today. He likes it up there. We will more than likely be roommates."

McKissic will officially be arriving in Tiger Town on January 9th. "My mother is going to come with me as well as my girlfriend," said McKissic. "She is a senior at Opelika, but she is going to come to Clemson next year. She came to two games this past year.

"I'm just looking forward to getting in there and working out with the team. I'm looking forward to spring practice."

Clemson assistant coach Dabo Swinney continues to stay in touch with one of his prize recruits from the 2004 class. "I talked with Coach Swinney on the 22nd. He said he is looking forward to having me up there.

"My mom is also real excited. She says she won't miss me, but I know better."

The Opelika standout has been working hard to prepare for the college game over the last few months. "I have been lifting weights and running the past few months. Right now, I am up to 286," added McKissic.

McKissic is also looking forward to the opportunity to compete for some early playing time on the defensive line. "Coach Swinney told me if I play like I can play that I have a chance to compete for a starting position," stated the talented defender.
