A Curtis Crouch Update

Offensive lineman Curtis Crouch (6-6, 316, 5.2, Scout.com's #18 OL) denies having a leader but favors North Carolina State, Oklahoma (11/13 official trip), Clemson, Virginia Tech and Florida.

"I've got to take more of these officials before I can even think of who my leader is," says Crouch, from Fayetteville Smith (N.C.). "All of these teams are even for me right now.

"North Carolina State has a great coaching staff and football program. I've also got some personal friends there like DeMarcus Tyler (defensive tackle) who helped me realize the fun aspects of football and how the game is played. I basically went out and did what he did and it all worked out for me. I'll figure out more about them when I take my official visit there.

"I liked pretty much everything about Oklahoma. It's a real good school. The distance there is really not a factor for me, but if there's one thing that brings them down a point it's got to be that.

"But they've got great coaches and a great campus. Everything there felt right to me. If I were to go there I'd have a good chance at playing against some of the best football players in the country.

"I don't know much about Clemson other than what I've heard about Death Valley, but that's about it.

"The fans at Virginia Tech are what I like about that program so far. And they're getting better each year. I'll see more on them when I officially visit there.

"I don't really speak to the coaches at Florida, but I'm going there soon so we'll have to see how it all goes."

Crouch will officially visit Florida (1/7), North Carolina State (1/14), Clemson (1/21) and Virginia Tech (1/28).

Fayetteville Smith went 12-3 on the season.

2.2/780 SAT/Dec 4 retest--"My original score is from a test that I took a while ago. I felt I did good on the SAT a couple weeks ago…I'm just waiting on the scores. But I don't think I'll have a problem qualifying."
