Clemson verbal commitment Tyler Grisham had a steller season year for Spain Park (AL), however his final year of high school football came crashing to a hault when he was injured in the third round of the playoffs. "I couldn't play in the last game because I broke my rib and had a partially collapsed lung," Grisham told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.

Grisham suffered the injury on a kick return.

Before the injury, Grisham showed what kind of athlete he was when he stepped in and played quarterback during his final three games.

"I played quarterback those last three games and we won all of our games while I played there," said Grisham. That was the final regular season game and the first two rounds of the playoffs. We run the spread offense. I don't have the best arm or accuracy so we did a lot of rollouts."

Grisham said that has not begun his rehab yet. "I haven't been able to workout or anything. I want to let it heal completely. So I'm trying to lay off it."

Clemson assistant coach Dabo Swinney continues to stay in close touch with Grisham.

"Yeah, Coach Swinney called a few days before Christmas. He called as he was heading home for the holidays."

Grisham has also spoken with one his future teammates. "I talked with Terrell Smith. We played him in the Jamboree. He is a great player. I talked to him after he committed."

Ironically, Smith and Grisham will probably be battling it out on the practice fields next August for playing time.

"I love the competition," said Grisham. "It will make me a better player. I'm looking forward to getting stronger and faster. It will make me an all-around better player. It's my dream come true."

And on the recruiting front, Grisham remains very firm with his commitment to Clemson. "I am not taking any other visits. I haven't been to another college in a long time. I am coming to Clemson on the 14th," added the future Tiger.
