For the past six months Germantown, Maryland star running back Tony Nelson has dreamed about playing in Death Valley. Apparently, those plans have changed.

The 5-10, 190 pound prospect had planned to take an official visit to Clemson on January 14. CUTigers.com spoke with Tony's mother to discuss the changes. "He's not coming this weekend. He won't even be going down there," said Mrs. Nelson.

"Apparently there was some issue. The previous recruiting coach is no longer at Clemson. The new coaches have come in and now things have changed so we are looking at other options right now."

The Northwest High coaching staff is working to find a new home for the talented prospect. "His coach is working on that right now," stated Mrs. Nelson.

Nelson had offers from Marshall and Clemson before he committed last June.

The Tigers now have one running back committed in Demerick Chancellor, and three more potential backs still being recruited in Travil Jamison (Clemson lean), Mike Davis (Clemson and Kentucky), and James Davis (Clemson and Alabama).

It is believed that the Tigers will take at least one more back, and possibly more under the right circumstances.

Clemson now has 22 verbal commitments for the 2005 recruiting class, including three players who have already enrolled for the spring semester.
