Chris White committed to SC while meeting with Skip Holtz Wednesday afternoon at Chester High School.
White is considered to be one of the top 3 linemen in the state of South Carolina this year. He chose the Gamecocks over Clemson and North Carolina.
White's commitment to Lou Holtz will certainly push the Gamecocks into a potential top 10 ranking for their 2002 recruiting class.
Chris indicated that the fact SC is close to home and the general "family atmosphere" led him to his final decision.
"It was between Clemson and South Carolina," White said.
"I really enjoyed both visits, and Clemson is great, but there was just something about South Carolina. There was a real family atmosphere. It was unreal. CJ Fry treated me like his little brother. Also, it is close to home. The coaches talked to me about the depth chart. I want to redshirt and adjust to the speed of the game. It's a big jump."
The Tigers, who have already signed 3 offensive linemen in Dustin Fry, Tim DeBeer, Roman Fry, and possibly a fourth in DE/OL Brad Lee, figure to sign at least one more.
