Will Merling Play Both Ways?

Clemson verbal commitment Philip Merling had a great time in Clemson this weekend for his official visit.

CUTigers.com caught up with the Fork Union standout early Sunday afternoon.

When asked how his visit went, Merling stated, "It was 20. I had really had a great time.

"I like the new coaches a lot, they are real nice. I think they have big plans for the future. I got to meet with both of the coordinators. They both talked about me playing both ways."

Merling also added that he his firm in his commitment, and that he won't be taking anymore official visits.

"I'm coming to Clemson," said Merling. "I'm not interested in anywhere else."

And as far as his teammate Derrick McPhearson, Merling says that Clemson has a definite shot to land him. "I think we are in the top two. He was impressed with the visit. I know he had a good time. I hope he comes here."

Merling was hosted this weekend by Clemson defensive end Gaines Adams.
