Austin Hosted by Chip Myrick

Thomas Austin and family traveled to Clemson this weekend for his only official visit of the recruiting process. The Shrine Bowl standout dined with Brad Scott and spent time with future teammate Barry Humphries. has all the details on his big weekend in this recruiting update.<BR>

The 6-4, 290 pound prospect didn't let a rare ice storm stop his official visit to Tiger Town. "Yeah we made it up there and I enjoyed it a lot. It was a good visit. We just got back home," Austin told Sunday afternoon.

When asked how he would rate the visit on a scale of one to ten, Austin responded, "I would probably give it a 10. Chip Myrick was my host. We also spent a good bit of time with Barry (Humphries) and his host Nathan Bennett. Friday night after having dessert at Coach Bowden's house we went to an apartment where most of the players were."

The weather did impact some of the planned events for the weekend. "We were kind of restricted some from the ice and snow. We didn't get to run down the hill but we did get to go to the basketball game on Saturday."

What was the highlight of the visit for the talented lineman? "I would say getting to meet all of the players. I enjoyed seeing who I will get to play with next year," said Austin.

"Luckily since there were only a few players there, my parents and I were able to go have dinner with Coach Scott and his wife on Saturday night. It was just my family and Coach Scott." Ironically enough, Austin's talented brother Joshua was able to make the trip because of the weather. "His wrestling tournament was cancelled because of the weather. He made the trip with us."

Joshua plays defensive end for the Bulldogs and will be a junior lineman next fall.
