LB Julius Wilkerson
6-3, 200, 4.7
Gaffney High School
Gaffney, South Carolina
Gaffney's Julius Wilkerson, a 6-3, 200 pound prospect who runs a 4.7 forty-yard dash, is one of the junior prospects in the state of South Carolina. "I don't play both ways or anything. I just play linebacker," Wilkerson told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.
The talented linebacker is still waiting for his first offer, but expect that to change over the next few months. "I don't have any offers yet. But a bunch of schools are showing me interest: Virginia Tech, South Carolina, North Carolina and others," said Wilkerson.
When asked if he has any early favorites, Wilkerson responded, "I don't have any favorites yet. I want to wait and see who offers first."
As it stands now, don't be surprised if the Gamecocks will be one of the teams to beat for this talented linebacker. "Sydney Rice and I are good friends. I went to see one game at South Carolina last year," Wilkerson said.
What are the strengths of the talented linebacker? "I get to the ball quick. I like to hit hard. But I want to work on my speed and my strength this year. I am working hard in the weight room right now," said the Gaffney star.
Wilkerson, who is also a strong basketball player averaging 12 points a game, is already focusing on the next level. "Where ever I go, I want to look at how good the program is," said the junior linebacker. "I will also be looking for early playing time. I think I will be able to play early on, so that's important."
We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding linebacker from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2006.
