"It is great, I love it," said the 6-foot-6, 215 pounder. "I was offered by USC a couple weeks ago at their junior day. Steve Spurrier, he has a very agressive playcalling and they are going to win a couple of games this year. You have to watch out for South Carolina."
Childers, who will be a big commodity over the next year in recruiting, is not ready to bite on his first offer just yet.
"I'm still keeping my options open, I like Auburn, Virginia Tech, and Clemson. I'm still talking to the basketball coaches at North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Clemson. The schools that I have been in contact with are going to let me play both.
"If I'm going to play, I'm going to sign for football and play basketball as well. You can't sign for basketball and play football."
Childers will attend the Scout.com U.S. Army All-American Combine at Duke on April 10.
